Dr. Kulkarni is a known figure in the systems software circles for his expertise in Compilers and language tools.
As one of the founders of Synergy Infotech, Dr. Kulkarni was responsible in building a Systems software unit from the ground up. He now leads a team of highly motivated individuals who have specialized in parsers, compiler back-end development.

Dr. Kulkarni did his M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. After a stint of six years in the software industry, he went on to work for his doctorate in Compiler Theory from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His PhD work involved the automatic generation of the compiler back-end and the definition of an architecture description language.

During the pre-doctorate period, he worked for PSI Data Systems. He was a key member of the team which developed a parallelizing FORTRAN compiler for BULL, France. He also worked on development of C compilers, device drivers and video game design.
